The combination of rusty orange and grey works great together, I am using same combination just now as my VS. Dont even think about changing it, this would lost part of its originality.
I am sure you will work more on that currently flat look when you get more into styling background elements aswell.
Somehow, the font doesnt seems to work that good when creating lines. Play little more with that vertical spacing etc. so it looks best possible.

About the font, I really like the monospace font and if I increase the vertical padding it looks really bad
In foobar I can't change the background, you can't add an image.

If adding higher value on vert. spacing mess it up, maybe you can look for some monospace font/typeface alternatives.
I forgot to add something into the layout. Somehow I still miss basic controls, at least for pause/play, next, prev, progress bar and volume. I myself use keyboard shortcuts anyway, but just for the case you know..
